InsideOut Book Launch

InsideOut, our new photographic book on street art in Ireland, launches Thursday 13th December in the Bernard Shaw, South Richmond St, Dublin 2  and we'll have live painting by DMC, JMK, Solus, Scie, ADW, Vadis, Hawkie, Psychonautes and more. The lads from This Greedy Pig (thisgreedypig.com) will be DJing and there'll be mulled wine and drinks promotions. Should be a great night, hope to see you there!

Irish Street Art April 2012

Here's our selection of street art from around Ireland, April 2012. Lots of quirky little pieces popping up all around the country. A great new piece by Eoin McGinn in Belfest (who's first solo show 'Rented Spaces' runs in The Grand Central in Belfast for another week). Some really beautiful pieces in Cork by French artist Psychonautes and UK artist FinDac as well as some fantastic new stickers by JTB and the legendary OBEY who was in Dublin for this years Offset Festival.

Killer Cups!

Here's a first look at Dublin artist Richard O'Connor's first collection of strange and crazy 'Killer Cups' characters.

The Killer Cups collection is a colorful array of one off tins, soda cans and drinks cups hand painted and ready to befriend any unsuspecting victim that comes to the helm of these deranged yet delightful characters.

"I fell in love with this idea awhile back... I was painting on cereal boxes and different bits and bobs but I thought graffiti artists, street art collectors, cartoonists, vinyl toy collectors, etc. would really love these lil' guys and it would be a great lil' project to work on, so I went for it".

For more, or to buy a Killer Cups character go to killercups.tumblr.com.

Irish Street Art March 2012

March saw the first wave of fine weather and probably not coincidentally saw a lot of street artists getting out to paint. There were 2 fantastic new pieces by Conor Harriongton, an inspiring new piece on Thomas St, D8 as well as more great pieces by Canvaz and ADW and also a number of pieces by internationally renowned French street artist C215.

Irish Street Art Feb 2012

February was an interesting month on the streets of Dublin with a fantastic new series of clown pieces from Canvaz inspired by the Kübler-Ross model, commonly known as The Five Stages of Grief, a Valentines Day Massacre piece by ADW and an amazing piece by former anarchist and politician Mannix Flynn which was created in association with the CCR (Centre for Constitutional Rights New York) and SNAP (Survivors Network of those abused by priests). The piece was created as a reaction to a recent international criminal court case filed in The Hague charging members of the clergy and Vatican officials with crimes against humanity.

This Greedy Pig & Hang Tough Framing

A Visual Feast would like to congratulate our good friends at This Greedy Pig and Hang Tough Framing on getting into their new premises before Christmas. They undertook a huge project in renovating a derelict redbrick just down from The Bernard Shaw in Portobello, Dublin 2 (next door to the infamous '24 Hour Shop' of the good old days) and after a lot of dirty work over the last few months they're officially in.

This Greedy Pig kicked off as an online magazine in early 2011 and a few months back they opened an online streetwear shop, selling some really cool stuff from around the world that we haven't really seen in little aul' Ireland before. Check out their site, it's well worth a look - www.thisgreedypig.com

Rubio originally set up Hang Tough Framing upstairs in The Bernard Shaw and soon became known as one of the best bespoke framers around so quickly grew out of that space and had to move to the new premises at 7b South Richmond St, Portobello, Dublin 2. The Greedy Pig lads call him 'Dublin's hardest working framer'. We can't really confirm or prove that, but he does work hard. We get Rubio to do all our framing as his work is always creative and top quality. Remember that piece you bought that you've been meaning to get framed? Now's the time... bring it into Hang Tough Framing and Rubio will be happy to bounce some ideas around. More on hangtoughframing.ie

The Blind Tiger Collective

BlindTigerCollective

For a chance to buy Irish this Christmas and to support small local designers check out The Blind Tiger Collective pop-up shop. It will be springing to life from the 20th of December until the 24th at The Little Green Street Gallery on Little Britain St. (off Capel St., D1) and the temporary space will be retailing exclusive Irish Streetwear and accessories.

'There will be a wide variety of brands at the Blind Tiger Collective pop-up, ranging from tattoo inspired hand drawn designs, skate apparel, street art and graffiti inspired work, showcasing the diversity of Irish design talent. A lot of the brands in the Blind Tiger Collective work on very limited print runs, some as low as 25 pieces, and when a design is finished it's finished for good which guarantees exclusivity' says Dualta Jones, founder of The Blind Tiger and co-owner of Project A Apparel (www.projectaapparel.com).

The Blind Tiger Collective will be having their launch night at The Little Green Street Gallery on 20th December and there will be DJs and free drinks as well as Galway based screen printers 'killertees.ie' printing unique Blind Tiger Collective tees.

And don't forget to pick up a copy of 'A Visual Feast - Irish Street Art' when your there!

Irish Street Art Nov/Dec 2011

With the winter weather hitting there's been a lot less happening on the streets of Ireland, but a few have braved the conditions so here's our pick of the bunch...  Also featured below is a fantastic piece we spotted in Sligo Town when we didn't have a camera to hand, but after a bit of searching we managed to find an image of it so thanks to photographer Kevin Rooney for that. We still can't seem to find out who did the piece (or when) so if anyone knows drop us a line.
